Hi, I am Mentor Josephan P. Sterling, M.A. creator of Locutionary Talks, the first talking dictionary focusing on only the words English learners need most for English vocabulary building.
I was born and raised in New York City. There, I received a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in English Speech and Drama from The City College of New York (CCNY) and a Master’s Degree in English Education Technology from New York University (NYU). I have more than 40-years of experience as a teaching and English speech professional.
In 2010 I was commissioned to teach English pronunciation to Thai educators and government officials. Many of my clients were experts on the rules of English grammar. They could dissect every word and phrase of an English sentence with grammar terms I seldom ever hear. What seemed uncanny to me was their inability to speak those English rules they memorized so well and their lack of English vocabulary to express their thoughts in English.
Speaking English distorted by heavy Thai accents, these professors lectured their bewildered students on myriads of confusing English grammar terms; likely, the students had an English vocabulary of fewer than1,000 English words.
I determined to combine my 40-years’ experience with English learning technologies and as an English-speaking professional and develop simplified English vocabulary and pronunciation resources; thus, English Ready Set Go! was born.
Since then, I have written eight English learning manuals and produced numerous English pronunciation and vocabulary-building videos. Locutionary Talks MP3 is my latest effort.
Words are the means we use to communicate our thoughts and ideas, and building a solid vocabulary is the most important thing you can do in mastering a new language.
In as few as 60-days, Locutionary Talks MP3 and the Click & Listen PDF Talking Dictionary, will help you master the definitions of 2,000 must-know English words.
You will hear the 2,000 words used in more than 10,000 sentences. Every word of the full-length definitions is spoken for you to hear and to imitate their pronunciation.
Your pronunciation of English words is equally important. Your English pronunciation goal need not be to speak without an accent; foreign accents can be charming to the native English listener. Your goal is to pronounce the sounds within each word.
